Canva discontinues affiliate program on Impact.com to anyone but “creators”.

Canva, the widely popular graphic design app and computer program has a smashing affiliate program on Impact.com. However, they are now only catering to creators that have over 5,000 follows on one of these platforms: YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, or LinkedIn.

I was toying with the idea of producing video tutorials and posting them to those exact social media outlets, however I will not be able to earn commissions until I reach 5,000 followers on one of the platforms. Most of my accounts are old, but lack content. I’m thinking a new goal for the year would be to come up with content to grow my following through videos on these platforms.

I can see many other apps and affiliate programs start to weed out the riff-raff and start taking creators with minimums. This is just one other thing that will get myself motivated to produce more content, and hone in on my affiliate marketing goals.

Here is the email from Canva, as a final reminder:

Hi David,

This is a reminder that Canva’s made the decision to shift the focus of its affiliate program towards individual content creators. This means we will no longer support non-creator affiliate partners in the program.

Individual Creators are defined as:
An individual (non-agency) who creates at least (1) piece of Canva-related content or training per month, and has a social audience of at least 5k followers on one of these channels:

  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • TikTok
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn

and identifies with one of the personas below:

  • Social media content creator
  • Workshop facilitator
  • Webinar/podcast host
  • Course developer

This unfortunately means your current contract will end on July 21, 2023. Commissions will be paid on conversions tracked until July 21, 2023. After this time, your links will no longer be valid.

If you have any questions about how these changes may affect you, please reach out to our team by emailing affiliate@canva.com. Due to an expected high volume of queries, responses may take a little longer than usual. You can also read our FAQ page for more information, linked here.

Note: If you have filled in the content creator evaluation form and received approval of your extension in the program, kindly ignore this email. If you have any questions about this, please reach out by emailing affiliate@canva.com.

Sincerely,

The Canva affiliate marketing team
