Things That Make White People Uncomfortable

Michael Bennett, Martellus Bennett’s brother, Seahawk’s Legion of Boom (though not in the secondary, he still deserves some credit) Defensive Lineman, Father, and Author, Things That Make Make White People Uncomfortable was an intensify satisfying listen. I had preconceived notions about this book being just a “hate on white people by a black guy” book, but, in my honest opinion, it has made me look at several controversial topics in a whole new way.

Yes, I am a white person, as you probably know by my website already, but I hate that. I am a person. Michael is a person. If we drop the “white” and “black” preceding words, then we are unlabeled, and we are.. humans.

For me, “Black Lives Matter” always seemed racist towards white people. Why don’t “White Lives Matter”? Why don’t “All Lives Matter”. Michael does an extremely great job detailing why it is, and always, only will be, “Black Lives Matter”. I don’t want to give away too many details, because I think everyone should read or listen to this book and form opinions of their own and see if now, you do in fact agree with what he is saying or not.

He also elaborates on the Colin Kaepernick era and that is another thing that Michael has educated me on. I, along with the majority of people I know, took the kneeling during the anthem as disrespectful towards the flag, and ultimately military, which makes me a dumb white person for not doing my research.

I’m not trying to make these posts super long, as I will be doing 300 of them, so the last thing that I REALLY loved about this book is that Michael questions Fast Food and Sugar Soda Corporations at an event he was invited to, and drops the hammer on them. I love his no-bullshit approach to everything. It bothered him to the point where he started an initiative to bring back the basics of cooking, and incorporating the education behind food, dating back to our ancestors who cooked seasonal offerings to build up immune systems. I am big in to food, and I was in shock hearing all of this, and it’s really inspired me to monitor more what is going in to my kid’s bodies and be a better person by educating them, and cooking and meal prepping more.

I HIGHLY recommend that EVERY HUMAN read or listen to this book.

Also, donate/volunteer to the Bennett Foundation any way possible. I’m signing up as I’m writing this.

PS – He’s right about Tom Brady.
